Donax townsendi is a small species of marine bivalve mollusk belonging to the genus Donax (wedge shells or bean clams) in the family Donacidae. It features a tiny, wedge-shaped or triangular shell and is found in sandy marine environments. 
Shell Characteristics
  • Size: Very small, typically measuring between 0.25 to 0.5 inches
  • Shape: Asymmetric, elongated wedge-shape typical of the Donax genus, adapted for quick burrowing in sand.
  • Appearance: Smooth or finely sculptured exterior with natural color variations common to beach-dwelling wedge clams
