Venus comb murex shells (scientific name Murex pecten), is a large predatory snail in the family Muricidae, the rock snails or murex snails. These shells are from the Indo-Pacific region.  The shell has over one hundred spines, which provide protection from predators and prevent the snail from sinking in the soft mud. It feeds on other mollusks. The species grows to between 10 and 15 cm in length.
