Sold by the kilo, these Minnivola pyxidata (formerly Pecten pyxidatus), commonly known as the box scallop or cup shell.  They range in size from 1 to 2 inches. They can be found across the Indo-Pacific from SE Africa to Indonesia.  These shells are used in seashell crafting, jewelry making, and, due to their unique, often patterned, and sometimes colored, cup-shaped valves, in collecting. 

All our seashells are commercial grade perfect for arts and crafts, and will have natural imperfections from living in the oceans.  The bags will contain some sand and gravel on the bottoms and you will receive some shells with chipped edges and holes.  These are real shells.
