Product Details

Wholesale Triangle Saddle Oyster Shell Chandelier for Sale  made with 3 layers of driftwood and hanging saddle oyster shells, also called a placuna chandelier.  This saddle oyster chandelier measures approximately 16 to 18 inches long and approximately 11 to 12 inches wide.  The saddle oyster shells are rough and give the chandelier a rustic look.  Our saddle oyster chandeliers or placuna chandeliers are handcrafted and will vary slightly in coloring and size.
The windowpane oyster (Placuna placenta) is a  bivalve marine molllusk in the family of Placunidae.  They are edible, but valued more for their shells (and the rather small pearls). The shells have been used for thousands of years as a glass substitute because of their durability and translucence. More recently, they have been used in the manufacture of decorative items such as chandeliers and lampshades; in this use, the shell is known as capiz shell (kapis). Capiz shells are also used as raw materials for glue, chalk and varnish.
